The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has initiated the consultation process to establish a framework for telecom service authorization under the new Telecommunications Act.
The Telecommunications Act, 2023 mandates that anyone wishing to provide telecommunication services must obtain government authorization, which will include specific terms, conditions, and fees as outlined in the rules for both public and non-public telecom services.
This consultation paper follows a request from the Department of Telecom, made to TRAI on June 21, seeking recommendations on the terms, conditions, fees, and charges for telecom service authorizations as stipulated by the Telecommunications Act, 2023.
TRAI announced that it has published a consultation paper titled "Framework for the Service Authorisations to be Granted Under the Telecommunications Act, 2023" on its website to gather comments and counter comments from stakeholders. The deadline for submitting comments is August 1, and for counter comments, it is August 8.
