SaaS giant Freshworks appoints Murali Swaminathan as its CTO




Dennis Woodside, CEO and President of Freshworks, welcomed Murali to the team, highlighting that Murali’s extensive experience aligns well with the company’s goals.

Freshworks, a major US-based software company, announced on Tuesday that Murali Swaminathan has been named its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). 


In his new role, Murali will oversee Freshworks’ technology strategy, including leading the company’s global engineering and architecture teams. This appointment is part of the company’s effort to boost its technology and improve solutions for employees and customers.


Murali Swaminathan has a strong background in software engineering. He earned a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Annamalai University in India. With over 30 years of experience, Murali brings a wealth of knowledge to Freshworks.


Before joining Freshworks, Murali was at ServiceNow, where he was the Vice President of Engineering. There, he managed the company’s IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products, helping to build modern application architecture. His work at ServiceNow was crucial in developing these products to support large enterprises.


Murali also held significant roles at Recommind (now OpenText) as Vice President of Engineering and at CA Technologies (now part of Broadcom Inc.), where he was involved in advancing enterprise software solutions.


Murali expressed enthusiasm about joining Freshworks, noting that it’s an exciting time as the company aims to become a multi-billion-dollar software leader. He looks forward to working with the engineering and architecture teams to drive innovation and deliver excellent products that meet customer needs.


Dennis Woodside emphasized that Murali’s leadership and expertise in technology and employee experience will be valuable as Freshworks continues to grow and serve mid-market and enterprise customers globally.
